Homework Policy
My homework packet is designed to help young students build a routine that is consistent and encourages independent homework practices while building stamina as they proceed through school. In the beginning most of our first grade students will need someone to assist them with their assignments, but gradually most students should be able to do the assignments on their own with minimal support.

HOMEWORK INCLUDES:
Reading logs should be completed with the title of the book and in the future students will be asked to answer comprehension questions about the book they read. List the books your child read or books read to them.
PARENTS:
- Help your child find a quiet homework space where they can do homework everyday.
- Check homework folders daily for notices, permission slips and corrected work.
- Use homework folders to send in written notes if needed.
- Check over their homework before they turn it in on Fridays.
- Books listed on their reading log can be books they read or books read to them.
- Students may need support reading sentences to fill in the blanks, don't give the answer read the choices for them and have them choose the best word to complete the sentence.
- Have your child orally give you a sentence for 5 sight words if they can not write them on their own. Write it on a scrap paper and they can copy and write it on their homework paper.
HOMEWORK INCLUDES:
- 10 weekly sight words/ write 5 times each
- Use 5 sight words to complete sentences (fill in the blanks)
- Use 5 sight words to write sentences
- Math sheet
- Weekly reading log
