Native American Learning Expedition
First graders are studying the Native Americans of Connecticut prior to European contact, with a focus on the Mohegan and Pequot tribes. We will use the lens of living with nature to view Native American tribes in CT. By studying the Native American relationship with environment, nature, and the land we can answer questions such as; How did they use the natural world to survive? What did they eat/how did they get their food and cook it? What did they wear and how did they make their clothing? How did they live? How did they make their shelters? What were Native American beliefs connected with nature? Where did folktales come from?
